she tasted fine then

before the ship sinks
we're grasping for glaciers
and spare planks of wood or
thought.

how did we get here? it's
not my fault; i was overdrawn
and i certainly had my
moments.

now i lay open-faced on the table
hoping i can still complete a breath
tomorrow. when you feast,
please

leave me a crumb or two of
what i used to be: i don't really
miss her but she tasted fine
then.

Great opening verse.

The ending was sad, and I'm sure many can relate to it.
